Charles R. Barman is a professor of science and environmental education and Director of the Urban Center for the Advancement of Science/Mathematics Education for the Indiana University School of Education in Indianapolis, Indiana. He received his bachelor's degree from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh and his master's degree from the University of Wisconsin-Superior. In addition, he holds a doctor of education degree from the University of Northern Colorado.
Dr. Barman has published a number of journal articles and books dealing with science and science education. He has served on the Board of Directors for CESI and NSTA and is a former president of CESI. He is also the recipient of several awards including the NSTA Gustav-Ohaus Award for innovative ideas in undergraduate teaching, the Indiana Distinguished Teacher Educator Award, the NSTA Distinguished Teaching Award, the Indiana University School of Education’s Burton W. Gorman Award for creative teaching, and the IUPUI Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Teaching.
