Forensic science is the application of science in the legal system. Our laboratory studies the forensic DNA analysis of biological evidence. In particular, we are interested in the application of forensic DNA techniques for human identification and individualization. In our laboratory, length polymorphism analysis of microsatellite DNA is employed for human identification and individualization. Additionally, sequence polymorphism analysis of single nucleotide polymorphisms is employed as well. Currently, our laboratory is working on developing evidence collection and sample preparation methods for the forensic DNA analysis, which is applicable for mass fatality cases and property crime cases, respectively.
